Dit gevoel was de start van de installatie die ik maakte voor de expositie 'Onder het Plaveisel, het Strand' die afgelopen 18 april bij Leiden Art Hub opende. Ik kocht een oude aanhanger, vulde hem met grond, Drents gras en verhalen uit de bovengenoemde plekken. En ik tekende 26 tekeningen over de relatief platte, Nederlandse, grond.
Dit alles is nog te zien t/m 31 mei, elke zaterdag en zondag van 12:00 tot 17:00 bij Leiden Art Hub, het adres is papegaaisbolwerk 20. Samen met werk van Frances Rompas en Jos Agasi, gecureerd door Anika van de Wijngaard. Meer info op vloed.nu
This feeling was the starting point for the installation I created for the exhibition 'Beneath the paving stones, the beach' which opened at Leiden Art Hub on April 18. I bought an old trailer, filled it with soil, Drenthe grass, and stories from the aforementioned places. And I drew 26 drawings on the relatively flat Dutch ground.
All of this is still on view until May 31, every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00 at Leiden Art Hub; the address is Papegaaisbolwerk 20. Together with work by Frances Rompas and Jos Agasi, curated by Anika van de Wijngaard. More info on vloed.nu

Ik lig erg graag op gras. Als ik na een rondje hardlopen in het gras van Odoorn ga liggen voel ik dat ik lig op onze aardbol met bruinige aardlagen en een rode kern van gesmolten metalen. Ik voel dat we heel langzaam en gestaag rondjes draaien en dat mijn stukje grond, dat stukje gras in Drenthe, net zo snel draait als stukjes grond in China, Brazilië, Noord Groningen, Rusland, Taiwan, Middelburg, Zuid-Afrika en Klazienaveen.Dit gevoel was de start van de installatie die ik maakte voor de expositie 'Onder het Plaveisel, het Strand' die afgelopen 18 april bij Leiden Art Hub opende. I really love lying on grass. When I lie down in the grass in Odoorn after a run, I feel that I am lying on a globe with brownish layers of earth and a red core of molten metals. I feel that we are rotating very slowly and steadily, and that my piece of ground, that patch of grass in Drenthe, rotates just as fast as patches of ground in China, Brazil, North Groningen, Russia, Taiwan, Middelburg, South Africa, and Klazienaveen.This feeling was the starting point for the installation I created for the exhibition 'Beneath the paving stones, the beach' which opened at Leiden Art Hub on April 18.
