Hier geef ik een inkijkje in het onderzoek dat ik doe tijdens de tweejarige master Artistic Research in and through Cinema aan de Nederlandse Filmacademie.
Mijn onderzoeksproject wordt een film die gaat over wat er gebeurt wanneer een mens een niet-menselijk dier doodt, een mens doodt een vlieg, een mens doodt een haas, een mens doodt een koe, in Nederland. ‘Mijn’ land, waar het doden van niet-menselijke wezens steeds verder verwijderd is geraakt van het dagelijks leven. De film focust op wat zich afspeelt op het moment van de dood tussen deze twee wezens, en welke verhalen mensen gebruiken om hun filosofieën en perspectieven op dit moment te delen. Het filmmateriaal zal bestaan uit observaties, interviews met de mensen, non-verbale geënsceneerde scènes/shots waarin ik mijn perspectieven probeer te delen, en scènes die de cultuur van het niet kunnen of willen delen van deze momenten bevragen en onderzoeken.In juli 2027 studeer ik af met het project. ENG This page shows an insight in the research I do during the two-year Master Artistic Research in and through Cinema at the Netherlands Filmacademy.
My research project takes the form of a film that explores what happens when a human animal kills a nonhuman animal. Ahuman kills a fly, a human kills a hare, a human kills a cow, all in the Netherlands. ‘My’ country, where the killing of non-human beings has become increasingly removed from daily life. The film focuses on what plays out at the moment of death between these two beings, and what stories people use to share their philosophies and perspectives at this moment. The film material will consist of observations, interviews with the humans, non-verbal staged scenes/shots in which I attempt to share my perspectives, and scenes that question and investigate the culture of not being able or willing to share these moments.
