Zeven mensen uit Drenthe delen zo’n verhaal. Ze laten je zien wat er bij hén boven de bank hangt - of staat. In foto’s van Jan Dirk van der Burg (voormalig Fotograaf des Vaderlands) zie je niet alleen het object, maar ook de mensen en de kamers waarin het leeft. Zo kom je thuis bij Erika, beheerder van het dorpshuis op Erica. Bij burgemeester Eric, onder zijn favoriete schilderij. En bij Mignon, een kunstenaar met een verrassend beeld. Archeoloog Karla, dierenarts Job, jongerencoach Sigrid en museumdirecteur Harry delen elk hun eigen kunstschat - én het verhaal erachter.
Ik maakte de audiotour en video’s bij de expositie, waarin je hoort waarom deze objecten betekenis hebben. En wat de waarde van kunst in je huis is voor hen is.

Seven people from Drenthe share such a story. They show you what hangs—or stands—above their sofas. In photos by Jan Dirk van der Burg (former Photographer of the Fatherland), you see not only the object itself, but also the people and the rooms it inhabits. This brings you home to Erika, manager of the community center on Erica. To Mayor Eric, beneath his favorite painting. And to Mignon, an artist with a surprising visual style. Archaeologist Karla, veterinarian Job, youth coach Sigrid, and museum director Harry each share their own art treasure—and the story behind it.
I made the audio tour and video’s for the exhibition, which explains why these objects are meaningful to the people who have it above their couch. And what for them, is the value of art in their homes.

In Boven de Bank ging DIEP Emmen op zoek naar kunstschatten in de regio Drenthe. Niet in musea, archieven of depots - maar gewoon bij mensen thuis. Want kunst is overal. In wat we mooi vinden, koesteren, of niet kunnen weggooien. Omdat er een verhaal achter zit dat ertoe doet.Zeven mensen uit Drenthe delen zo’n verhaal.
